Call 2027: What is Love?

What is Love?
Rethinking Relationships

Love shapes the way we live together and our notions of closeness, intimacy and belonging. In 2027, the Dogo Residenz für Neue Kunst invites artists to consciously unlearn and rethink the concept of ‘relationship’. The focus is on artistic explorations of belonging and community, closeness and distance, desire and vulnerability, romance, family and friendship – and their social constructs.

In 2027, Dogo is offering two- and three-month residencies in Lichtensteig (CH), in the canton of St. Gallen. The residential programme will begin with a two-day symposium in February 2027, during which we will explore the theme ‘What is Love?’ from various perspectives, accompanied by invited guests and interested audiences. The artists will contribute a short presentation to the symposium programme, giving them the opportunity to reflect on their topics for the first time and get to know their fellow residents. The year will conclude with a group exhibition in November 2027, the Dogo Totale, at which all artists can present their work or creative process to the public.

Applications are open to cultural practitioners from all disciplines. Interested? Then apply by 6 May 2026.

The residency does not cover living and accommodation costs. However, an exhibition fee is paid for presentations, as well as a contribution towards travel expenses.

A selection of artists will be invited to submit a concept proposal with a concrete plan for the residency.
