Myriam Gallo, an artist from Bern, explores fluid networks and cyclical systems that transport, distribute and exchange information flows along bodies of water. The local spring water flows through layers of earth and rock in the grounds, the forest and various systems of water pipes until it reaches Lichtensteig. The wall fountain serves as a vessel and an invitation to a sensually playful encounter with this water – to make contact and engage with the knowledge gathered from the forest and the valley that it holds.

A tree is a fountain, a fountain is a body, a body is a tree (2026)

Myriam Gallo on her work: In ‹A tree is a fountain, a fountain is a body, a body is a tree› I follow the fluid principles trough different states and forms in our lives. Water seeks a body. I think about branches, veins and waterpipes as guiding systems for water and for the dissolved informations in it. I learned that water is essential for all electrochemical processes in bodies. Our emotions for example are chemical. They flow as electrical signals trough nervous systems, carried and transmitted by fluids. Grief, joy, relieve, pain, dullness. I am fascinated to watch how they flow and choreograph movements in and with my body. It feels like dancing: how they come up in springs and then travel in streams through me and leave again. Similar to hydrological circles and cycles in nature, in forests, in trees. By virtue of its molecular nature, water can seep into other bodies, permeat and move through them. So it is ever again surprising for me, that I can work with it, shape and transform matter with it. 
At Dogo I expanded my research about the analogies of fountains, vessels and containers to hold, pump and carry water while spending most of my time in the forest or by the river. At the same time it deepened my relationship to them.

The open hand is holding something precious
the water flows through it.
They fall from above, trough space and are getting grounded,
they come back as springs somewhere in the forest, falling again.
Vertical and horizontal streams, currents, crossing, mingling -
Intertwined.

Myriam Gallo's work is about co-creation. Sensory perception, listening, feeling and bringing forth the future through touch and experimentation. She is interested in networks and cultivates an understanding of herself as a mobile laboratory that moves through matter: absorbs, transforms and releases again. These encounters and moments of exchange and inspirations take place between her and humans as well as non-human entities.
