Der kollektive Bauch (2026)
From late summer 2026, you will find the ‘kollektive Bauch’ (collective belly) here – a work of art and a natural storeroom for locally sourced food. Here, artists, farmers, animals, plants and microorganisms work together to develop site-specific smells and flavours.
The artwork draws inspiration from old earth cellars and ripening chambers that were once used communally in the Alpine region. This gave rise to practices essential for survival – for preserving and refining food – as well as unique flavours. These were passed down through the generations as embodied knowledge. When we process and taste food together today, we therefore connect not only with the landscape but also with our shared history. It lives on in our experiences and shows that we can all develop a keen sense of when the time is right.
In the presence of the artists, you are invited to take part in an annual tasting of food from the earth cellar.
